The Saraswathi Rehabilitation and Development Trust was founded in 2023 in Hyderabad by P. Sarvalaxmi — a retired mathematics lecturer and the mother of a 45-year-old daughter who lives with multiple disabilities. It is run by three women, each personally connected to the cause.
Vision
Every person with intellectual or developmental disability deserves to live with dignity, equality and respect. The Trust exists so that no family in our community should face this journey alone, and so that PWIDDs can participate fully in family, school, work and public life.
Mission
To work for the welfare of Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities through education, counselling, financial assistance, awareness, and community-based and home-based programmes — meeting families where they are, and walking with them for as long as needed.
Building public understanding so that families can find help, and so the wider community can offer it.
One-to-one support for persons with disabilities and their families — from diagnosis through adulthood.
Street children, orphans, women, widows, senior citizens, and any person whose circumstances leave them without care.
Practical, plain-language material on disability — for parents, teachers, caregivers, and policymakers.
Direct services run where people live: schools, homes, neighbourhoods. The Trust goes to the family, not the other way around.
